Pretty much what you'd expect - silly and more silly which is funny occasionally , story that has no idea when to stop, and so on.

Word of mouth – Shahid Kapoor holds fort in a stumbling santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla hero.

Phata Poster Nikla Hero: Khoda Pahaad, Nikla SIrf Shahid Kapoor.

Bad guys are chasing a girl and the good guy enters, well jumps, from the top of a single screen, tearing through the poster of Azab Prem Ki Gazhab Kahani and saves the girl. But not before throwing some jokes and showing some funny moves. And the movie starts. Of course, there are some scenes explaining his childhood, his mother’s dream of making him a policeman, an honest one. Ahem? Still thinking about Rajkumar Santoshi’s Azab Prem Ki Gazhab Kahani, I expected more and well .. Phata Poster Nikla Hero is all about Shahid Kapoor, the hero. He is dancing, joking, fighting, crying and a bit romancing. He makes a comeback with the movie, along with Padmini Kolhapure.

Wanted to be an actor, Wishwas Rao gets a chance to go to Mumbai for his police training but ends up in Sapna Guest House, a place of aspiring actors owned by a failed script writer, Guru Ji. Due to unexpected incidents, he is mistaken as a cop, by a social worker, Kajol (Illeana D’Cruz) and the goons he messes up with. On the other side, he is making continuous efforts to enter bollywood. His mother, who thinks that he has become a cop, comes to Mumbai to see him where eventually she finds out the truth. First part is engaging, if you take out the pathetic romance and irritating Illeana D’Cruz.

After the interval, things start going bizarre. Wishwas is trapped by the gangster. They kidnap his mother so that he can work for them on a secret mission. An international don arrives from Turkey to blow up the city with biochemical bombs. Unfortunately, he is somehow related to Wishwas which is the only twist I liked, and it could be better. Confusion, fight, comedy and silliness, all mixed badly, irate you a big time.

Saurabh Shukla as Gundappa, the local don, is amazing and so is Sanjay Mishra as Guru Ji, guide to aspiring actors. Mukesh Tiwari as the international don, Napoleon doesn’t fit. We still has hi image of Vasuli Bhai from the Golmal series. Rest of the cast is also good, except Illeana D’cruz, she is over enthuastic and sucks at romance. In fact, romance in the movie is nothing but just some bad directions from a brilliant director like Rajkumar Santoshi who miserably fails this time.

Salman Khan has a small part to play, where he talks about the director’s Andaz Apna Apna. Shahid Kapoor is funny, especially when he goes to a police recruitment camp and kames excuses of his by-birth-ailments to that they would reject him. I was actually laughing. Apart from Shahis Kapoor, what makes the movie is but interesting is the music, Songs are good, Khalli Peeli and Rang Sharbaton Ka are the main. Movie is a disappointing version if Azab Prem Ki Gazhab Kahani, the climax set is same, Khalli Peeli songs has the colorfulness of Azab Prem Ki Gazhab Kahani.

Movie is a onetime watch for the fans of Shahid Kapoor and those who like Rajkumar Santoshi. One makes a good comeback, and the other one fails. Strictly a one time watch.
