Rizvan Khan, a Muslim man from India, moves to San Francisco and lives with his brother and sister-in-law. Rizvan, who has Aspergers, falls in love with Mandira. Despite protests from his family they get married and start a small business together. They are happy until September 11, 2001 when attitudes towards Muslims undergo a sea-change. My Name is Khan is Karan Johar's best effort till date. He shows uncharacteristic restraint for most part of the film and that results into a touching emotional tale brightened up by a brilliant performance from the King Khan. However, Johar lapses into his familiar territory during the second half, which spoils a lot of the fun.
