The trio of Homi Adajania's "Cocktail" don't speak a unified voice of love. This triangle is too scalene to be an equilateral one.

A good chick flick is just the right amount of chewing gum for the brain. Light and breezy it is good while it lasts. Cocktail lasts till a little after interval when it starts moping and mulling. A promising start meets a generic, uninteresting end. And three fun people turn into predictable, stereotypical sobs.

The first half of the film is breezy and filled with organic, irreverent humor, while the second half turns serious. Decent acting, great characterization and dialogues. Even with it’s flaws, this is a well-made film. I’d expected better from writer Imtiaz Ali, but it is still a worth-while watch.
