Love Sex Aur Dhokha (Hindi)

Release Date:
March 19, 2010

Love Sex aur Dhokha is a film about voyeurism. It is essentially about how we have become a generation of voyeurs and flashers simultaneously. This film is about keyhole. On one side of the keyhole is a guy who is peeping in and on other side, there is a person who is hoping that someone is peeping in, and then its us, who are seeing all this. And it is adding bizarre subtext to our society. On television, newspapers, other media, we are obsessed with the most meaningless trivia of what other people are doing about their life.

Directed by Dibakar Banerjee (Khosla Ka Ghosla, Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye) & Produced by ALT Entertainment, LSD explores the human emotions of love, sex & betrayal through very candid points of view.

The film is a roller coaster ride told through the chaos of the camera that has invaded all our lives – through handy cams filming home movies, security cameras shooting every inch of existence, mobile phones transmitting love messages, sting cameras uncovering uncomfortable truths.

Each of the three stories has a newspaper story item quality about it and thus is as enchanting as that can get. But the novel way in which it is recorded and narrated is engrossing. But, be warned it is not your movie if you are the kind who takes offense easily or can't handle non-escapist cinema.

Dibakar Bannerjee and surprisingly, Ekta Kapoor, bring you the year's best so far. A candid look at the voyeur in us through a brave experiment in terms of technique, Love, Sex aur Dhokha delights cinematically and shocks emotionally. Great casting, innovative cinematography, brilliant acting & some trademark Dibakar black humour make this one of the most important films in the history of the industry. Though Dibakar seems to be going the RGV way as at times, the technique comes across as being bigger than the film.

Films are supposed to be the mirror of the society. Does it really reflect true India? Most Indian films create an utopia of their own where everything is fair in love. But is it the truth? Does it really happen?

Welcome to the world of Love, Sex Aur Dhokha. Get an electrifying reality check!

The movie showcases the dysfunctional urban Indian society which lusts for voyeurism. It is the Indian society which starts and ends an entire day with MMS scandals. It is also the nonchalant Indian society which believes in honor killing because of religious differences and social-hierarchy issues. So far we read it all on the newspapers. Thankfully, someone had enough balls to put in on celluloid.

Told from third person point of view, using camcorders, CCTVs and hidden cameras, the movie tells three inter-weaved stories about Love, Sex and Deceit. On a macro level, the three stories talk about Love, Sex and Deceit chronologically and separately. But on a micro level, we find all the elements in every story.

Don't take your girl out for this one, unless you're looking to give her an excuse to dump you - but if your relationship survives this, dude, she's for keeps. Khosla Ka Ghosla and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! both won national awards. In all probability, Love, Sex Aur Dhoka won't. And in case, just in case it does, it would only mean one thing - that India is finally coming of age.
