3 Idiots (Hindi)

Two friends [Madhavan and Sharman Joshi] embark on a quest for a lost buddy. On this journey, they encounter a long forgotten bet, a wedding they must crash, and a funeral that goes impossibly out of control. As they make their way through the perilous landscape, another journey begins: their inner journey through memory lane and the story of their friend--the irrepressible free-thinker Rancho [Aamir Khan], who in his unique way, touched and changed their lives.

It's a story of their hostel days that swings between Rancho's romance with the spirited Pia [Kareena Kapoor], and his clash with an oppressive mentor, Viru Sahastrabudhhe [Boman Irani]. And then one day, suddenly, Rancho vanished. Who was he? Where did he come from? Why did he leave? The friend who influenced and inspired them to think creatively and independently, even as the conformist world called them three idiots. Where is the original idiot now? Finally, in misty mountains of unparalleled beauty, the friends find the key to the secret.

Three Idiots is a comedy of ideas that is as provocative as it is funny, as wildly entertaining as it is insightful. A laugh-riot that talks about the most important of human pursuits: self-actualization.

The 3 Idiots teach fun Hirani-style

Watch for sure, preferably in theatre

Though 3 idiots is a little more slapsticky than the Munnabhai series, the crass humor seems to be with a purpose. What remains fascinating is the blend of comedy with his social messages, as usual. He makes being good look so simple.

This movie was such a lurning experience. I loved it. And Aamir was awasome. And so was the 2 other idots + Boman!!

3-idiots has a decent message, but it seems to be a combo of Taare Zameen Par and Dil Chahta Hai. Old wine in old bottle!

I liked 3 Idiots in parts. I felt it was 30-40 minutes longer than it should have been, especially the second half. There was masala which was not funny. Elongated runaway bride scene did everything to test my tolerance. It was crazy thought that a child start reacting to external world after hearing oal iz bell. Ragging scene was awful. Repetition of guys removing their pants and showing their semi covered base ('b' is silent) was killing all fun. There were copied jokes from elsewhere like a sheikh taking picture of burkha covered women, mixing of examination answer sheets as examiner didn't know who the student is etc etc.

I will not say it is funniest movie. It is just above average. :)
